Anonymous asked: what do you think makes Christianity different from other religions?
Because we are Christ-ians. We follow Christ (Matthew 16:24, Romans 15:5). We believe Jesus was indeed Christ (Acts 18:28) unlike the Jews. We know Jesus was God born in the flesh (John 1:14), who gave his life so we could be free and closer to God (John 3:16, 1 Peter 3:18). We pray to God the Father because Jesus taught us to pray to the Father (Luke 11:1-4) and to not call anyone on earth Father because there is one Father in heaven (Matthew 23:9) unlike Catholics who pray to the saints and Mary and say the Pope is their Father.
I’m not judging them, just giving scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16). Muslims believe in Allah and they have Jesus actually in their quran except they acknowledge Him as a great prophet and the Jews didn’t believe He came the first time even though Jesus fulfilled the prophecies written about him (Acts 13:29). Muslims don’t know they are forgiven til the day of judgement, Christians know that; “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness,” (1 John 1:9). Catholics believe in confession but the veil was torn (Matthew 27:51) ”For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,” (1 Peter 3:18) which we were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, (Ephesians 1:13) til the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30).
So we no longer have to go to a priest like the Catholics do, or how it used to be back when priest who enter the tabernacle and pray to God on our behalf because we are the temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. 16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16 NIV84) :) I hope this answers some questions. God bless! Jackie<3
