Homosexuality is a sin, God actually calls it perversion (Romans 1:27 NIV84), a penalty (Romans 1:27 NIV and NLT), error (Romans 1:27 KJV) and an abomination ( Leviticus 20:13 ESV), detestable (Leviticus 18:22 KJV and NIV), wicked and vile (Judges 19:16-24), homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God ( 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 ESV). I’m not judging homosexuality, I’ve sinned, we all have (Romans 3:23 ). You love them the way God loves you, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 KJV. Christ died for them as he did for us. Christ died for all sin by becoming a sacrifice (Hebrews 10:10), Instead of condemning homosexuals like some people do they have to realize, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:17 KJV And Jesus said “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. John 13:34 KJV. I’m not saying homosexuality is okay, in fact I said the opposite. Their sin is not different from our sin. Love them they way God loves us, don’t judge them but correct them, don’t condemn them, pray for them, that they see the sin they are in and repent of their ways. Don’t support their cause but support the fact they need God, they need to repent.
1 Timothy 1: 8-11 NIV
We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
Matthew 9:10-13
While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Jesus came to save us to give eternal life to those who believed in him (John 3:16 NIV), to be an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:10 NIV). Sin is sin not matter what it is and we need to confess it to God (1 John 1:9 NIV) and repent. If we don’t correct homosexuals, especially using the word (2 Timothy 3:16 NIV) how will they enter into the kingdom of heaven? They won’t (1 Corinthians 6:9-11 NIV). That’s why we tell them what they’re doing is wrong but their sin is no different from the ones we commit(ed). We need to spread the good news of Jesus to not only save homosexuals by them believing in Christ, but others who are sinning. Correction through scripture doesn’t only apply to homosexuals but to others who are sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, thieves, greedy, drunkards, slanderers and swindlers (1 Corinthians 6:9-11 NIV), etc, because all have sinned (Romans 3:23). That’s why we are to spread God’s word, the harvest is ripe (John 4:35 NIV) and plentiful but the workers are few (Matthew 9:37 NIV), read the bible, correct (2 Timothy 3:16) and edify ourselves and others, renew our mind so we know what God’s will is for us (Roman 12:2 NIV). We pray for others who are struggling with sin and if that person is in Christ, we who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. (Galatians 6:1 NIV). It’s not that homosexuals are biggest sinners but that we all need God because we are all sinners who need to repent. It’s about life and death, heaven and hell and I want others saved because God saved me.
God bless, in Christ, Jacqueline
